Dimensions of Position: The responsibilities of the Project Engineer include the administration of plant engineering, communications, equipment and process improvement, maintenance and acquisition of new equipment. Beyond the day to day plant functions, the incumbent also leads in the identification, planning, implementation and follow up on short term and long term goals which will contribute to improved production processes to assist the company in meeting its financial and marketing objectives. The ability to establish and lead along with colleagues, a productivity philosophy and improve communications is vital to this position.

Entry Level Skills and Temperament Requirements:
- 5 years of experience at a similar or higher position
Knowledge and hands on experience in:
- Preventive maintenance and procedures
- Facilities operation
- Equipment repair and improvement
- Project Management and expansions, equipment relocations
- Negotiation skills when dealing with suppliers and outside contractors
- Knowledge of computer systems
- Ability to prepare budget estimates and forecast material, manpower and financial requirements
- Thorough understanding and practice of supervisory practices and techniques, and the ability to transfer this knowledge to others
- Team supervision and mentoring skills.
- Lean manufacturing knowledge and experience.
Education and Training Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Management
- Or Similar and compatible experience
Primary Functions:
- Managing and assuring that all departments are working together.
- Assuring facility maintenance
- Building and plant renovation, expansions, equipment relocations
- Ongoing improvement of work methodology including automating processes and implementing new procedures
- Proposing purchase of new equipment
- Defining, planning and implementing short and long term projects subject to the approval of senior management
- Follow up special projects to make sure that appropriate action is being taken and that the projects are completed within the specified time
- Meeting with Government officials as required to ensure Protech adheres to Government Health & Safety and Environmental standards and regulations
- Ongoing process development and/or improvement
- Furnish engineering and design assistance to the maintenance function of the department
- Direct the coordination and inspection of contracted work for compliance with specification and adherence to quality
- Responsible for Human Relations and action to be taken on important personnel problems
- Working closely with all departments and members in improving health and safety conditions in the plant
- Expanded role in production senior management team based on meeting short term and long term goals
